If you are looking for a single, most memorable “mountain day”, Anzal Tours can offer you the opportunity to discover the beauty and charm of the nearby High Atlas mountains on an easy hike.
At only just over an hour’s drive south from Marrakech, Amizmiz lies in the foothills of the High Atlas. The location offers stunning views out to often snow capped peaks as well as having a surrounding rural landscape with much beauty, interest and intrigue.
Anzal Tours can introduce you not only to these stunning landscapes but can also enable meeting the local Berber habitants. Such encounters, often through “happenstance”, will allow you to learn about the cultural heritage, customs and the lifestyle of the Berbers, the “mountain people”.
This one day hike can, of course, be tailored to your exact requirements. Perhaps you just want a morning hike rather than a whole day hike? Not a problem, just let us know and a hike can be tailored to your particular needs.
The hike described here is just for a 1 day hike. If you wish to hike for 2, 3 or more days then a tailor made itinerary with all inclusions that you want can be readily made for you.

HIKE ITINERARY
08:30: Depart from Marrakech; private transport and driver arranged to collect you from your accommodation. Enjoy views of olive groves, rolling foothills of the High Atlas and fascinating rural landscapes as you leave the busy city behind.
09:30: Arrive in Amizmiz. Meet your pre-arranged English speaking Countryside Guide (other languages available, just request at time of booking) and make all introductions. An opportunity to finalise exactly what it is that you are looking to experience on your hike is first taken. Once ready, your walk begins towards Talaten Yahya (a potters' village) and onwards towards Sidi Hssayn village.
10:45: A refreshing mint tea break and traditional second breakfast in a Berber home (featuring fresh bread, olive oil, honey, and local specialties) is enjoyed in Talaten Yahya village. After the refreshments, take part in a hands-on pottery activity with local potters. Learn the traditional techniques and try your hand at shaping clay on a potter’s wheel. This is a very real and authentic cultural experience.
After this activity, continue the hike through the surrounding forest towards Ait Ahmed village, passing through shady forests of oak and pine trees.
Follow mountain paths, the way continues toward Azro Ofolous Village. The trail gradually descends, offering gentle walking with scenic views of terraced fields, rivers, and rural settlements.
13:15: Arriving in Azro Ofolous, enjoy a homemade lunch in the home of a local Berber family. Enjoy traditional dishes such as tagine, salads, fresh bread, seasonal fruit, and mint tea. This is a great opportunity to interact with locals and learn about their daily life.
15:15: Depart from Azro Ofolous village, walking downhill or on the level. Pass by the beautiful villages of Tizgui and Ait Ouskri. the hike continues by crossing a river towards Sidi Hssayn Village.
From there, follow a scenic path through Tamazight Village, observing the rural architecture and savouring the peaceful mountain landscapes.
17:00: Arrive in Amizmiz, meet with your driver and depart for Marrakech
18:00: Arrive back to your accommodation in Marrakech
