MARRAKECH PLAIN & JBILET
If you simply wish a gentle day away from the clamour of Marrakech and seek some tranquility, then this tour and gentle walking will certainly fit the bill. The walking can be made to be as minimal as you wish or it can include a few longer walks, as you like. Travel is in a 4×4 vehicle that allows access to more remote, off the beaten track places.
Lying just a short distance away to the north and east of Marrakech is the Marrakech Plain and its surrounding Jbilet Hills. Lying only a short journey from the city, the world of Jbilet feels like a thousand miles away from the hustle and bustle of Marrakech.
The Jbilet Hills are wonderful and are a very much under-explored area by visitors to Marrakech; they are a hidden gem, an Anzal Tours’s secret. Life here is very rural and traditional farming is the norm.
Many villages are found across the Marrakech PlaIn, blending in to their natural surroundings with their traditional pisé buildings (dried mud). Life may look idyllic here (and in many ways it certainly is – peace, solitude, nature, purity of air, etc.) but life is also a challenge. Rainfall is the key to this area’s survival and without adequate water both arable and pastoral farmers suffer greatly. In recent years and with droughts and climate change, water resources are a major challenge.
Spending a day out on the Marrakech PLain and amongst the Jbilet Hills offers much of fascinating interest and this will be greatly enhanced by your Guide’s stories and information. Wonderful “happenstance” enclounters with the people of the plains offer unique, unplanned experiences that will provide long lasting memories.

Travelling time to Jbilet area from Marrakech, is around 30 - 45 minutes. This tour's transport is in a 4x4 vehicle as much of the journey is, excitingly, on gravel roads. This enable acceeds to secret places, almost unvisited by tourists.
The routing of this tour is totoally flexible and very variable. There are so many options that are possible to take. Your interests and the conditions of the day will help to guide the day's itinerary.
It can often be the case too that “happenstance” encounters will guide the events of the day. This all adds joy to the day, knowing that it is a one-off day, unique to you.
A journey into the Jbilet Hills provides encounters with fascinating aspects of rural life. Meetings with very friendly people as they go about their daily activities in the countryside - grazing sheep and goats, gathering firewood for their bread ovens, preparing land for cultivation (if rains allow), travelling on their motorcycles to/from market, etc. - is very informative.
Village visits are made as part of the day's experiences - for a second breakfast, for lunch in a homes' salon - this too allows for interaction with the villagers, again allowing the opportunity to appreciate a quite possibly very different way of life from your own.
There is plenty opportunity to relish the beauty of the rolling hills, their valleys, their plants and the outcrops of uplifted rocks and domes of protruding, weathered granite outcrops. Plenty time is provided to roam, explore and photograph this remarkable area (as gently or as demandingly as desired).TOUR LOCATION
